At least 226 women availed the Progestin-Only Subdermal Implant (PSI) offered by POPCOM 10 during the RPFP Caravan in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon through the collaboration of the Provincial Health Office, the City Health Office of Malaybalay, the Department of Health, and USAID last September 26.
POPCOM 10 Regional Director Jeremias Gupit said that the high turnout of women who are successful recipients of subdermal implants in a single day was made possible through the cooperation of the agencies and local governments.
Gupit said that some of the health service providers who gave assistance in the activity came all the way from the Municipality of Don Carlos, while the legwork accomplished by the Barangay Population Volunteers, the Barangay Health Workers, and Rural Health Unit nurses and midwives.
“Mao kini ang among halad alang sa mga kababayen-an sa dakbayan sa Malaybalay og sa entire Region 10,” says POPCOM chief.
“This is our gift to the women of Malabalay City and the entire Region 10.”
The RPFP caravan concurred with the other two major events – the 119th celebration of the Civil the Service Month and the 2nd World Contraception Day.
Gupit also highlighted that it is significant that correct and adequate family planning information and services are given to women to help them achieve their desired number of children and will help to decrease the cases of maternal deaths around the country.
