In partnership with The Department of Health Region-10 and Mindanao Health, POPCOM-10 conducted an orientation on Family Planning Logistics Hotline on February 9, 2017, at the MCC Hotel in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
All Family Planning Coordinators, as well as the Municipal Population Officers of Lanao del Norte, attended this Orientation.
This move is according to Department Memorandum (DM) No. 2015-0384 issued by Department of Health instructing all DOH Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, Directors of Bureaus, Regional Offices, Special Hospitals, Chiefs of Medical Centers and Hospitals, Commission on Population and other concerned, to forecast, distribute and monitor and family services and commodities to avoid stock-outs.
Considering the mandate of President Rodrigo Duterte regarding family planning (FP) program, that is, to zero-out unmet need for modern FP, it is to be understood that the described memo must be observed and integrated with DOH’s systems in procurement, forecasting, distribution and monitoring of FP supplies and commodities.
It is also based on this DM that the Commission on Population National Office initiated the creation of the FP Logistics Hotline. This Hotline will receive stock out reports, including complaints and other related information; conduct spot checks to validate receipt of deliveries, consolidate, process, and follow up RHUs on consumption reports. Reports received by hotline shall be at once communicated to the FP Program at the DOH Central Office and concerned DOH Regional Offices for appropriate action.
The orientation in February was facilitated by two technical staff of POPCOM-10—Mr. Jeremias Cabasan and Mr. Ramie Lumasag and two Communication Specialists of Mindanao Health Headed by Dr. Roy Gavino. The Regional FP Coordinator of DOH-10 was also present to ensure full-time and active participation of the FP coordinators in the orientation.
POPCOM hopes to orient all RHUs haw to use this hotline before the year ends. Another batch will be conducted on April 27-28 for FP coordinators of Bukidnon. Other provinces like Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental will as well be trained on schedule to set by DOH-10.
