On March 14, 2018, a ceremony was conducted to award entries for best practices done by POPDEV clubs (can be program, project or activity) in Cagayan de Oro. The said awarding ceremony was attended by POPCOM Executive Director Juan Antonio E. Perez, III. He graced the activity with an inspiring message and by observing the activity the whole time. Winners for best practice by POPDEV Clubs were the following:

1st Place: Angeles Sisters National High School “Conduct of POPDEV-themed Jazz Chant Contest”
2nd Place: Carmen National High School “Adopt A Friend”
3rd Place: Iponan National High School “Focus Group Discussion”

POPDEV clubs are generally a school-based student organization initiated and formed by POPCOM in partnership with the School Division. It aims to provide the schools with co-curricular activities that generate students’ awareness about population and development issues, concerns and other “nice to know” matters for the students. The City Population Office helps ensure the sustainability of POPDEV Clubs by constantly coaching and monitoring them on their activities.
