In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Oro Youth Center of Cagayan de Oro launched an online program entitled aTEEN ‘To!  which is derived from the tagalong words “atin ito.” The program is a teen chat platform which aims to educate young people about reproductive and mental health concerns of teenagers.

POPCOM-X Information Officer II Kasherette Amandac was invited in the second episode and discussed love and romantic relationships emphasizing the role of the parents in guiding their adolescent children. Ms. Amandac mentioned that, to effectively guide adolescents, parents should keep an open communication with them and maintain a trusting relationship with the children so that they will all the more open up their problems especially matters related to love, relationship, and sexual intimacy.

Ms. Amandac also said that parents should use the opportunity of being in home quarantine to foster deeper relationships with their children.

This online advocacy series which was organized by Oro Youth Center in partnership with POPCOM-X and other partner agencies will continue to talk about matters affecting the Filipino youth, particularly on gender development; reproductive health and wellness; sexuality; mental health; among others.
