The newly established Teen Center in Oroquieta city and the soon-to-be opened Teen Center in Aloran, Misamis Occidental are ready to promote Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) information and services to the young people. As the centers are rowing towards the functionality of the facility, the Regional Population Office 10 assisted the two LGUs in getting first-hand experience and exposure through visits to the different centers in the region. The teams visited the following functional teen centers: “Tambayan Ng Kabataan” in Maramag, Bukidnon, “Oro Youth Center” in Cagayan de Oro City, “Jasaan Youth Hub” in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental and “Mambajao National High School Teen Center” in Mambajao, Camiguin.

During the visits in the mentioned teen centers, an orientation was prepared by the staff to provide the guests information and knowledge as to the purpose of the establishment of the facility, the programs and services offered and the strategies of the management to ensure sustainability of the project. Some important activities and functions of the teen centers were shared to the teams which include the following: Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health (ASRH) classes and U4U roll-out, Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) film dissemination, recreational and outreach programs, and peer educators’ and volunteers’ training.

With this, POPCOM 10 is hoping that the newly established teen centers will have a better understanding on the most important elements of operating a youth facility that will contribute to providing quality of life to the Filipino youth.
