More than Three Hundred (300) male Senior Citizens, Differently-abled Persons and People Deprived of Liberty (PDL)” at the city jail received Medical/Dental Care services provided by several Doctors and Nurses of DOH-10, Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and Nurse Force Global (NFG). Among the services given were: Vital Signs checking/monitoring; dental check-up/consultations; therapeutic counseling and surgery for minor cases.

Over and above these services, DOH-10 and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) through the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) provided the inmates with free essential medicines and reading glasses. The inmates were all happy to be given with hygiene kits and ice-cream in cones courtesy of NFG.

Added their excitement was the gift packs containing towels, underwear, undershirts, and goodies which were provided by POPCOM-10. DOH-10 provided Lunch and A.M. Snack to the senior citizens and special group inmates.

Said activity called “Reaching out the Senior Citizens, Differently-abled Persons and People Deprived of Liberty (PDL)” was spearheaded by POPCOM-X in partnership with DOH-10, NMMC, CSWD, BJMP-10, NFG and Career Executive Officers-10 (CEO-10). It was conducted at the city jail in close coordination with BJMP-10 on October 26, 2018.

POPCOM-10 Regional Director, Jeremias C. Gupit on his message said, “we are here to express our love and care and to let you know that you are not forgotten by the government”.

The activity was designed to provide the elderly and the PDL with comfort by addressing some of their basic psychosocial needs—the need to belong, the need to be comforted, need to be loved and the need for socialization
